Three programs approved by the Armament Committee

The Committee on Armament Programs and Contracts of the Hellenic Parliament approved the activation of the FMS Case financing program for the support of helicopters of American origin, the AH-64DHA, CH-47D, OH-58D and UH-1H types of the Army Air Force increasing their availability and operational readiness.

The Committee also awarded the result of the tender for the award of a contract worth EUR 5,000,000 for the maintenance of the NH-90 helicopters. The contract concerns the energy recovery of a number of the received helicopters, while the long-term support of the type is provided by the FOS (Follow-on-Support) contract.

Finally, the framework agreement was approved for the supply of 183 tire boats for 7-10 people for the Special Forces units of the Greek Army, to replace corresponding older years that after 22 years of use have exhausted their lifespan. The framework contract is for nine years and the program had a budget of € 2,030,400. The supply of outboard engines for boats will follow with another supply.

The Committee was briefed by the Deputy Minister of National Defense, Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias, while the meeting was attended by Chief of HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros, Chief of H.Army Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis, as well as the General Director of Defense Investments and Armaments Vice Admiral (ret) Aristidis Alexopoulos and Financial Planning & Support Vice Admiral (O) Dimitrios Ryziotis Navy.
